Saudi Arabian champion Al Ittihad is preparing to sign Son Heung-min (31, Tottenham) after Karim Benzema (36).
“A Saudi Arabian club is preparing to sign Son Heung-min for a transfer fee of $65 million (KRW 835 million),” ESPN reported on the 20th (below).
Son moved to Tottenham Hotspur in 2015 and completed his eighth season with the club in the 2022-2023 season. In 2021, Son agreed to a four-year contract extension with Tottenham. His contract with the club runs until 2025.
The Saudi Arabian League, which has recently added Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema to its roster, has expressed interest in Son.
According to reports, Al Ittihad, who won the league title in the 2022-2023 season, are in the hunt for Benzema in the current transfer window.
“Saudi Arabia’s top club Al Ittihad are preparing to sign Premier League stars in this summer’s transfer window and Son is one of them. According to sources, Son has been offered a four-year contract for 30 million euros ($42.1 billion) a season. Al Ittihad are on the verge of signing N’Golo Kante and already have Benzema in their sights.”
ESPN believes a move for Son is unlikely. “Sources insist that even if a formal offer is made for Son, the move will not be easy. Tottenham would not be interested. The player’s camp is also not reacting to the offer.”
“Since joining Tottenham from Leverkusen, Son has remained one of the club’s 메이저사이트 most important players, scoring 145 goals in 371 games,” the outlet added.
Meanwhile, Son was benched for the entire 90 minutes of South Korea’s friendly against Peru on Sept. 16 as he recovered from sports hernia surgery.
Speaking at a press conference at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium on Monday ahead of the match against El Salvador on Tuesday, South Korea national soccer team coach Jürgen Klinsmann said, “Son Heung-min has been training hard every day since Paju. He won’t start. It’s too much for him to play 90 minutes. I’m thinking of using him in the second half,” he said, revealing that he will use Son Heung-min in this match.
