Jeju United head coach Nam Ki-il has been named the FLEX Manager of the Month for May.
Led by Nam Ki-il, Jeju went undefeated in May with four wins and a draw in five matches.
Jeju won 2-1 against Pohang in the 11th round, their first match in May, followed by a 2-0 win against Incheon in the 12th round and a 5-0 win against Suwon FC in the 13th round to record three straight wins. Jeju then drew 1-1 in Seoul in Round 14, but closed out the month with a 2-1 win in Suwon in Round 15.
Jeju swept the month of May with 13 points and boasted a 90 percent win rate. The team also displayed an explosive offense and solid defense, scoring 12 goals and conceding just three in their five games in May.
In recognition of Jeju’s successful May, head coach Nam Ki-il was awarded the FLEX K League Manager of the Month award for his outstanding leadership and guidance. Nam will be presented with a commemorative trophy and injury certificate from the Korea Professional Football Association.
This is the eighth time in his career that Nam has won the Coach of the Month award. This is the most wins since the award was established in March 2014. Nam has won the Coach of the Month award at each of his previous clubs, including twice at Gwangju, once at Seongnam, and 스포츠토토 five times at Jeju.
Meanwhile, flex, which sponsors the Manager of the Month Award, is the only HR platform company in Korea that has signed an official HR partnership between the Federation and the K League since this year, and has been conducting various joint marketing activities such as integrated advertisements in K League stadiums, the ‘flex Manager of the Month Award’, and the ‘K League Academy – HR Training Course’.
