“I will come back stronger,” says Son Heung-min after individual and team performances

South Korean soccer icon Son Heung-min, 30, of Tottenham Hotspur, is looking forward to the 2022-23 season.

After returning to South Korea from the English Premier League (EPL) on March 30, Son shared a message with soccer fans on his personal social media accounts.

“After returning to Korea, I had time to reflect on last season. The season was far from what I thought and expected, both as a team and as an individual, and I was disappointed,” he said. Heung-min continued, “I would like to thank the fans for their support during this difficult season. I promise to recharge my batteries and come back better and stronger next season.”

After finishing as the EPL’s joint top scorer (23 goals) in 2021-22, Son has scored just seven goals in the league this season. He had a slow start to the season and suffered an orbital fracture in a game. He was unable to play to his strengths in Antonio Conte’s defense-oriented system, and he didn’t get along with fellow striker Ivan Perisic. However, he found his form in March and scored consistently, eventually finishing with 14 goals and six assists in all competitions, his seventh consecutive season with 20 or more attacking points. He also became the first Asian player to score his 100th EPL goal. 먹튀검증

It was by no means a failed season, just one that fell a little short of expectations. However, Tottenham did not qualify for the Champions League or the Europa League this season, falling to eighth place in the EPL. That’s why Son was disappointed.

In the midst of all the bad news, Son Heung-min has given soccer fans something to look forward to every week. He will now spend some time in Korea to recharge his batteries and prepare for the A-Match in June. He will be called up to the national team on June 12, and will face Peru on June 16 and El Salvador on June 20.
