Acting FC Seoul head coach Kim Jin-gyu, who traveled to Spain for his P-level coaching license, will take on Gwangju FC.
Seoul and Gwangju will meet in the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023 at 2 p.m. KST on Nov. 17 at Seoul World Cup Stadium. Seoul is in fourth place in the league (43 points), while Gwangju is in third place (45 points).
Kim is currently undergoing training for his P-level coach license. As part of that, he traveled to Spain during the last A-League break and returned home early for the Gwangju match.
“It was a tough schedule, but I learned a lot, and I went back and studied a lot about Barcelona. It’s not easy in this game, and if I get a chance, I’ll try to apply what I’ve learned to Seoul,” he said.
In particular, he mentioned the Barcelona system. Kim said, “I thought Barcelona’s system was better than I expected. From the youth to the adult teams, I saw a lot of good things in the offensive part,” he said, adding that he picked up a lot of lessons as a coach.
“I also saw a lot of good things defensively at Espanyol,” he said, adding that other teams could learn from them.
So while Kim was away, Seoul focused on the coaching staff. “The coaches were calling me at 2 a.m. and 3 a.m., so I couldn’t sleep,” Kim said, “but I trusted them, and I was watching the training in real time. The system was so well organized that we could give feedback immediately,” he said, adding that the training went well enough under the coaching staff. 온라인카지노
Meanwhile, Na Sang-ho was left out of the squad and trained in Seoul during the A-Match. He had been a fixture under the previous coach, Paulo Bento, but Jürgen Klinsmann opted to use other players instead.
“When I talked to him after the roster was announced, I thought he would be disappointed, but he was very positive, and he was very determined to work hard and find his place. He was also very good in the two weeks of preparation,” Kim said, praising Na for his mental toughness.
